A 15-year-old Class 10 student was allegedly murdered by his uncle over a property dispute at Indira Colony in Aivarakandapura, near Yelahanka, on Tuesday. The accused, Mohan, the boy’s paternal uncle, has been arrested and taken into police custody.

The deceased, Krishna, was studying at a government school in Aivarakandapura. His body was found lying face down in a room of his house with bleeding head injuries, according to the complaint filed by his relative, Channarayappa, 65.

Nagesh D.L., DCP (North-West), Bengaluru, said Mohan had been arrested and would be interrogated to gather further details. “At present, a property dispute is suspected to be the motive behind the offence,” he said.

According to the complaint, Krishna’s father, Muniraju, had two sons, Yashwanth and Krishna. Their mother, Sharmila, had left the family around 14 years ago, when the children were young. Muniraju died about 12 years ago, leaving the brothers without parental care.

The family allegedly owned around one acre of ancestral land near Kundana in Devanahalli taluk. Mohan is accused of forging signatures and selling the property to a real estate developer in Yelahanka without informing his sister, Pushpa, and Muniraju’s sons.

Pushpa subsequently lodged a complaint with Vishwanathapura police over the alleged forgery. After the developer learnt of the alleged irregularities, the money due to Pushpa and the two brothers was reportedly transferred to their respective bank accounts.

The development allegedly angered Mohan, who frequently quarrelled with Yashwanth and Krishna over the matter, the complaint stated.

On Monday (October 12, 2026) night, Mohan allegedly visited the brothers’ house around 10 pm. The following morning, he reportedly went to Vishwanathapura police station and informed the police that he had killed Krishna.

The Soladevanahalli police subsequently visited the house. Channarayappa, who accompanied the police, found Krishna dead inside a room at around 9.30 a.m. Yashwanth was not present at the house at the time.

The police have registered a case of murder under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and taken up further investigation.
