“We are yet to decide about the alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections,” said Puthiya Tamizhagam party leader K. Krishnasamy.
Speaking to journalists here on Monday, he said, though they have resolved to replace the DMK alliance from power, they were also sure about an end to the single party holding power in the government.
He added, “When a single party rules, the plight of the people at grassroots goes unnoticed. Solutions to people’s problems can only be found if we participate in the cabinet.”
What is the use of protesting and demonstrating from the outside later?, he questioned. If there is no coalition government, that administration would not serve the well-being of the Tamil people, he added.
So, keeping it in mind, he said, they were currently in talks to form a coalition government.
They provide reservations for Scheduled Castes in IAS and IPS yet deny them a share in the Ministry, he stated.
“Only a coalition government can truly be a government for the people. I do not wish to disclose publicly who Puthiya Tamizhagam is currently negotiating with. Our election work for 2026 is focused on the demand for a share in power. Puthiya Tamizhagam is working towards a strong alliance and a total change in government,” Mr. Krishnasami asserted.
He condemned the DMK government for allegedly driving out the Manjolai labourers.
“Is this the achievement of the ‘Dravidian Model’ government? Is this the Chief Minister’s version of social justice? The government has failed to provide drinking water, electricity, bus facilities, or ration supplies to these workers,” he added.
Furthermore, the Tamil Nadu government has provided false information to the court by claiming that workers do not reside in Manjolai.
As the State was forcing them to leave the hills, he said, they would appeal to the court to appoint a commission to investigate the status of Manjolai.
