The Railway Board has decided to provide additional stoppages for two express trains at Kuppam railway station on an experimental basis, bringing much-needed relief to passengers of the constituency. The move follows Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s two-day tour of his constituency, Kuppam, where he will launch new development works, officials said on Sunday.
As per the notification, train no. 17315 Vasco-da-Gama-Velankanni weekly express, commencing from Vasco on September 21, will arrive at Kuppam at 12.33 a.m. and depart at 12.35 am. In the return direction, train no. 17316 Velankanni-Vasco-da-Gama weekly express starting from Velankanni on September 22, will reach Kuppam at 9.33 a.m. and depart at 9.35 a.m.
Similarly, train no. 11005 Dadar-Puducherry tri-weekly express, starting on September 20, will arrive at 10.45 p.m. and depart at 10.47 p.m., while train no. 11006 Puducherry-Dadar tri-weekly, starting from September 22, will halt at Kuppam at 3.28 a.m. and depart at 3.30 a.m.
Officials said the additional halts will remain in force till further orders and would significantly improve rail connectivity for Kuppam.
