South Coast Railway (SCoR) General Manager Sandeep Mathur has directed officials to enforce strict perimeter control at all active construction and maintenance sites by erecting sturdy barricades to prevent the accidental entry of passengers, railway staff and unauthorised persons.
Reviewing the zone’s monsoon safety preparedness at a high-level meeting with Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs) and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of the four divisions here on Tuesday, Mr. Mathur said the barricades should be highly visible, properly maintained and installed, particularly at locations with heavy passenger movement.
He also called for continuous monitoring of vulnerable locations, proper drainage arrangements, immediate clearance of waterlogging and prompt attention to safety issues arising from heavy rain and strong winds.
At railway stations, officials were instructed to ensure safe segregation of passenger areas from ongoing works by providing adequate illumination, clear signage and secure barricading. Special attention should be paid to platforms, circulating areas and approach roads prone to waterlogging or slippery conditions.
Emphasising that there should be no compromise on safety during adverse weather, Mr. Mathur directed officials to maintain heightened vigilance across the zone throughout the monsoon.
