Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A. Shyam Prasad and Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar took part in the 77th Republic Day celebrations at the parade grounds here on Monday (January 26, 2026).
Addressing the gathering, the Collector said that Sri Sathya Sai district holds immense potential for tourism and cultural renaissance, citing the presence of historical monuments such as Penukonda Fort and Lepakshi, as well as cultural strengths like Dharmavaram silk sarees and puppetry.
He said that the district is making remarkable progress with industrial development, providing job opportunities to the rural youth. The Collector said that apart from giving top priority to the irrigation and drinking water, the district was also made to undergo rapid transformation as a vibrant horticulture hub.
A major attraction at the celebrations was the Police Dog Squad demonstration, highlighting skills in crime detection, drug identification, and agility exercises. The district police also set up an informative stall demonstrating cybercrime prevention, fingerprint analysis, and crime investigation tools. Officers and personnel with exceptional service records were honoured with DGP commendation awards, certificates of merit, and best service awards.
In Madanapalle of Annamayya district, District Collector Nishant Kumar unfurled the national flag and received a guard of honour from the police. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. Addressing officials, staff and students, the Collector highlighted the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged citizens to uphold constitutional values, discipline, and civic responsibility.
Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma, District Revenue Officer D. Madhusudhan Rao, other senior officials, Collectorate staff and students attended the ceremony.
At Sainik School in Kalikiri mandal, the celebrations included an impressive march past, led by the Shakti Girls contingent, and the Class XII Passing-out Parade. Cultural programmes, tableaux on “Swarna Andhra @2047,” academic and sports awards, and the Principal’s address reinforced patriotism, discipline and the importance of constitutional duty among cadets.
