Sustained research, technological self-reliance, and long-term vision is key to strengthening India’s strategic preparedness, B. K. Das, director-general, Electronics and Communication Systems, Defence Research and Development Organisation, has said.
Mr. Das was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Probe 2026’, the annual technical symposium of the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Association of the National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T) on Thursday.
In his address, Mr. Das spoke on the role of engineering education and the responsibility of the younger generation in carrying this progress forward. He stressed that the future of India’s technological and strategic capability rests on the competence, discipline, and commitment of its youth, and encouraged students to approach their careers with a strong sense of purpose and national responsibility.
Rangarajan Sundaravadan, senior director, Engineering, Qualcomm, and NIT-T director G. Aghila, ECE department head R. Pandeeshwari, and former professor S. Raghavan were present.
Keynote speaker Mr. Sundaravadan underscored the importance of strong technical fundamentals, adaptability, and continuous learning in an increasingly dynamic engineering environment.
“Probe 2026” will include a three-day programme of technical events, workshops, expert lectures, and interactive sessions.
Technical competitions designed to encourage analytical thinking, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving among students will be held.
As part of the symposium, a dedicated segment on the Sanchar Saathi Initiative, a citizen-focused programme of the Department of Telecommunications addressing mobile security and cyber fraud, will be conducted, said the press release.
