Revenue department staff stage road roko

Police arrested 140 protestors affiliated to the Confederation of Revenue and Disaster Management Department Associations as they blocked vehicular traffic here on Tuesday to highlight their demands.

Led by district Coordinators of the Confederation Subbu, Gopi and Duraipandi, the protestors demanded special law to ensure the protection of revenue department officials and special scale of upgraded pay for all officials considering the “increased workload”.

All existing vacancies in the revenue and disaster management department should be filled up with timescale, they said.

While 140 persons were arrested in Tirunelveli, 93 persons were detained in Thoothukudi district. Similar agitations were organised in Tenkasi and Kanniyakumari districts where the police detained 257 persons.
