A revenue inspector was killed in a road accident near Kurumbur in Thoothukudi district on Wednesday.
According to police, the deceased was identified as S. Amirtha Kannan, 41, of Pazhayakayal. He was working as a revenue inspector at the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department of Tiruchendur taluk.
He was returning home on his two-wheeler after work. When he was passing through the Thanneerpandhal area near Kurumbur, his two-wheeler rammed into the rear of a lorry that had broken down and was parked on the road.
He sustained severe injuries and was taken by passers-by to a private hospital in Authoor, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Kurumbur police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
