Review meeting held to prepare for summer fire season in The Nilgiris

The Nilgiris District Collector recently held a review meeting regarding preparation for the summer fire season in The Nilgiris.

The meeting, which was conducted in Udhagamandalam, focused on precautionary steps to be taken to control forest fires during the summer season. Officials said the Collector emphasised that water should be available for local residents, and told officials from municipalities, town and village panchayats to ensure that demand and distribution networks are fully functional. The officials were asked to take stock of village and town areas where there were chances for water scarcity, and ensure that water is provided to these areas.
