Three days after a firing and robbery near the State Bank of India main branch in Koti, Hyderabad police said the two assailants used a country-made firearm and remain at large. Investigators suspect the duo to be inter-State criminals from Uttar Pradesh, with their movements being tracked across districts and possible exit routes from the city.
Police said six special teams have been formed, including personnel from the task force, to trace and apprehend the accused. CCTV footage from multiple locations is being analysed and technical evidence is being examined to establish the suspects’ identities and movement trail. Coordination with neighbouring States has also been initiated as part of the inter-State probe.
The victim, Rinshad P.V., a 26-year-old cloth merchant from Kozhikode in Kerala, continues to be under observation at Osmania General Hospital, though the doctors have confirmed he is out of danger.
The incident was reported on the morning of January 31 when Mr. Rinshad was shot in the right shin while depositing ₹6 lakh at an ATM on Bank Street in Koti. Police said two men threatened him with a firearm, snatched the cash and fled on his two-wheeler.
The vehicle was later abandoned at Kacheguda, after which the assailants escaped towards the Old City. A case was registered by the Sultan Bazar police and further investigation is under way.
