Schools of winners of Thiruppavai-Thiruvempavai competition to receive books

SASTRA, a deemed university, has announced that the schools of winners of the Thiruppavai-Thiruvempavai Recitation Competition – 2026 will receive books for their libraries.

According to a university release, the competition will be held on January 11, 2026, from 10-35 a.m. on Thirumalaisamudhram campus and Srinivasa Ramanujam Centre, SASTRA, Kumbakonam.

Schools located within 15-km radius from the two campuses can nominate two students each in Junior (below 12 years of age) and Senior (above 12 years but below 18 years of age) categories. The contestants can recite the verses to win the first prize of ₹3,000, second prize of ₹2,000 and the third ₹1,000.

Also, the schools from which the winners hailed will receive books for their libraries worth the prize winning amount.

The competition will be conducted only if at least 10 participants in each category take part and a consolation prize of ₹500 will be awarded to participants who know and recite all verses but do not qualify to receive the first three prizes.

The participants must register their names through their schools on or before January 5, 2026, the release added.
