The police are on the lookout for three persons who murdered a 35-year-old man during a drunken dispute in Old Washermenpet on Monday.
A senior police official said that when S. Saravanan of Moolakothalam was drinking alcohol near the railway tracks near his house, another group, comprising Ajithkumar, Vasanth, and Sathish of Vyasarpadi, arrived and started drinking as well. A argument broke between Saravanan and the others. Ajithkumar and the others suddenly hit Saravanan with a beer bottle and then stabbed him. Saravanan was killed on the spot. The Washermenpet police sent the body to the Government Stanley Hospital for a post-mortem and are searching for the group.
