Senior IAS officer Ashwini Bhide appointed as BMC commissioner

Maharashtra government appointed Senior IAS officer Ashwini Bhide on Tuesday (March 31, 2026) as the municipal commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the richest civic body in Maharashtra, becoming the first woman to head the Mumbai’s civic body. 

Ms. Bhide is likely to assume the office after incumbent municipal commissioner Bhushan Gagrani completes his tenure on March 31 and serve till 2030.
