Serve people with diligence, compassion: Revanth to officials

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged government employees to serve people with diligence and compassion so that welfare benefits reached the most deserving poor, saying their service would reflect on the government.

He was speaking at a review meeting with officials and employees of various departments after inaugurating the new Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Karimnagar.

Mr. Reddy laid foundation stones for various development works worth around ₹944 crore, including ₹840 crore in civic works under the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF), and unveiled a Telangana Thalli statue on the IDOC premises.

He said around 10.50 lakh employees were serving nearly four crore population in the State. The government was striving to address employees’ issues, including the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), in a phased manner, besides ensuring salary payments on the first of every month and introducing the New Employees Health Scheme.

The Chief Minister said the State was making concerted efforts to accelerate development with the cooperation of the Centre. The hurdles to the Gouravelli project in Husnabad Assembly constituency had been cleared following sustained efforts by the government, he said.

He also cited transfer of around 170 acres of defence land for the elevated corridor project in the Secunderabad Cantonment area as a major achievement. The corridor and associated road works estimated at ₹5,000 crore would ease traffic congestion and remove a major bottleneck for motorists travelling to Hyderabad from the north Telangana districts, he said.

Describing the project as an example of Centre-State cooperation, Mr. Reddy said development should transcend political differences.

Referring to criticism by BRS leaders over his visits to New Delhi, he said some people were counting his trips rather than recognising their purpose. “Ideologies may differ, but when it comes to development, mutual cooperation should prevail for the betterment of the State,” he said, adding that he would conduct a detailed review of development works in Karimnagar in coordination with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

Mr. Reddy was accompanied by Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud and others. Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar was also present.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had District Collector Chitra Mishra occupy her chamber in the new IDOC.
