The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) released its student election manifesto ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Mohamad Jafar, State secretary of SIO, urged the State government to enact a law against hate speech and targeted attacks against Muslims surfacing in Tamil Nadu. He also reiterated SIO’s demand for an exemption from the NEET examination, stating that it affected the reservation rights and medical aspirations of backward and economically weaker students.
The organisation called for a complete ban on alcohol, drugs, and closure of TASMAC outlets near educational campuses. Restoring student union elections in colleges, filling assistant professor vacancies in government and government-aided colleges, issuing community certificates to tribal students, and fixing government-mandated minimum wages for teachers in private institutions were among other major demands.
SIO further sought to waive all existing educational loans and to increase the reservation for Muslims in education and employment beyond the present 3.5%.
