Sivaganga custodial death: Inspector, SI and 4 others suspended

N. Manivannan, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ramanathapuram Range, on Friday issued suspension orders to six police personnel, including Manamadurai Inspector and Sub-Inspector, over the alleged custodial death of a 26-year-old youth, R. Akash Delison, on March 8.

Relatives of the victim, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste, staged agitations on the Manamadurai National Highway, demanding the arrest of those involved in his death. The agitators withdrew their protest on Thursday, on Madras High Court’s (Madurai Bench) order.
