Following Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s launch of the ‘Thaimaaman Gold Ring’ scheme on September 28 in Madurai, Sivaganga district administration is set to roll out the scheme aimed at presenting one-gram gold rings to new-borns across the district.
The initiative will be launched simultaneously at two primary locations: the Government Hospital in Karaikudi and the Government Medical College Hospital in Sivaganga.
According to District Collector P. Akash, the welfare scheme applies to all infants born in government hospitals, Primary Health Centres, and government medical college hospitals starting from June 22, 2026.
Following the initial launch, daily distributions catering to 50 to 100 babies will continue steadily at the two designated hubs.
Infants born in Karaikudi Corporation and the blocks of Sakkottai, Thiruppathur, Kallal, Devakottai, Kannangudi, and Singampunari will receive their rings at the Karaikudi Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, children born in Puluthipatti, Sivaganga, Maravamangalam, Poovanthi, Thirupuvanam, and Ilaiyangudi blocks will be accommodated at the Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital.
Authorities have confirmed that comprehensive arrangements are under way to ensure every eligible child born between June 22 and September 27, 2026, receives their gold ring by October 20.
Mothers of the beneficiaries will receive formal invitations through their respective regional Primary Health Centres, detailing the specific date and venue for collection.
