The Social Justice department will organise ‘Savishesha – Carnival of the Different,’ a three-day festival for the differently abled, in the State capital from January 19 to 21.
At a press conference here on Wednesday (December 18, 2025), Minister for Social Justice R. Bindu said the festival sought to empower the differently abled and mainstream them. It would highlight the State’s activities for the differently abled, model schemes, assistive technology demonstration, arts and sports events, job fair, skill development workshop, and inclusive film festival.
Dr. Bindu said discussions and seminars to create awareness of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, exhibition and sale of products made by the differently abled, and presentation of novel ideas; and discussions on their rights and policy changes will be held on the occasion.
Industry experts, policy makers, and those working in the area of disabilities would attend the three-day event.
Dance, music, theatre and other cultural programmes presented by the differently abled would be another highlight of the fete.
Inclusive Olympics would also be a part of Savishesha. The facilities for the Inclusive Olympics would be barrier-free.
A food fete by Kudumbashree units and self-help groups and Bioscope, a festival of films dealing with issues of the differently abled, would be other attractions.
