A special meeting of people’s representatives and officials will be held soon to address land issues in Attappady, Revenue Minister A.P. Anilkumar said here on Thursday (October 8, 2026).

The Revenue department will take steps to issue title deeds to people from the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and fishing communities after the State government’s 100-day action programme, the Minister said.

Mr. Anilkumar said some members of the SC/ST communities were unaware of the importance of title deeds, making it difficult to receive applications. The Revenue department will coordinate with the SC/ST department and use community promoters to visit their homes, help them submit applications and facilitate the issuance of title deeds.

The Minister was speaking after inaugurating a district-level title deed distribution programme here on Thursday held as part of the State government’s 100-day action programme.

The Revenue department had set a target of distributing 5,000 title deeds in 100 days but has already issued more than 10,000, the Minister said. Palakkad topped the State with nearly 3,000 title deeds.

Land-use conversion

The Revenue department has also cleared 51,000 applications for land-use conversion against a target of 25,000 from a backlog of 2.5 lakh applications. The remaining applications will be cleared within a year, he added.

The government has also resolved nearly 70,000 complaints related to digital surveys against a target of 50,000.

Mr. Anilkumar said Revenue officials should ensure that people can access government services without intermediaries. Officials should explain delays or rejections clearly and ensure that people do not have to make unnecessary visits to offices.

K.A. Thulasi, Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, who presided over the function, urged the Revenue department to take suo motu steps to resolve land and survey disputes in Attappady and facilitate the issue of title deeds.

V.K. Sreekandan, MP; MLAs Ramesh Pisharody, Sumesh Achuthan, A. Prabhakaran and K. Premkumar; Palakkad Municipal Chairperson P. Smithesh; Additional District Magistrate A. Abdul Latheef; Subcollector Anjeet Singh and Palakkad Revenue Divisional Officer K. Devaki also spoke.
