The post-enumeration process under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls–2026 was reviewed at a meeting held on Monday at the Coimbatore Collectorate, where officials from Coimbatore, Tiruppur and the Nilgiris districts were instructed to adhere to the timelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI)
The meeting was chaired by Kuldip Narayan, Special Electoral Roll Observer appointed by the Election Commission, to review the SIR for Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri.
Mr. Narayan reviewed the progress of verification and scrutiny of claims and objections, disposal of applications received through Forms 6 and 8, field-level verification by booth-level officers, rationalisation of polling stations, and preparation of the final electoral rolls as per the Commission’s schedule.
Officials informed the observer that so far around 29,000 applications had been received through Form 6 in Coimbatore district seeking inclusion of names in the electoral rolls.
The meeting was attended by Coimbatore Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, Tiruppur Collector Manish S. Narnaware, Nilgiris Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru (via video conference), Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, political party representatives and other senior officials.
Mr. Narayan instructed officials to ensure timely completion of all stages of the revision exercise, with particular focus on verification and disposal of Form 6 and Form 8 applications.
