Stakeholders highlight priority issues at Oragadam medical devices park at high-level meeting

More than 30 allottee companies from the SIPCOT Medical Devices Park, Oragadam, participated in a high-level stakeholders meeting chaired by senior government officials and presented the operational and infrastructure challenges affecting the MedTech ecosystem.

In a press release, the Association of Tamil Nadu Medical Device Industry (ATMED) said the meeting was convened at the Secretariat following repeated representations regarding the challenges faced by industries operating at the SIPCOT Medical Devices Park.

S. Vijayakumar, Industries Secretary, presided over the meeting. S.A. Raman, Managing Director, SIPCOT, and senior officials from SIPCOT, Revenue Department, electricity department, Guidance TamilNadu, and other related departments participated.

During the meeting, Jayasing Morris, coordinator and general secretary, ATMED, handed over a detailed representation to Mr. Vijayakumar, outlining the key issues faced by the park and requested priority intervention from the government. The officials have assured the stakeholders that the issues would be examined on priority and appropriate action would be taken at the earliest.

ATMED highlighted certain priority issues. These included immediate waiver of Block Development Officer fee, alignment of electricity tariff with the applicable Government Orders, and ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the park. The association also highlighted the need to improve the quality and distribution of the sewage treatment plant at the park, grant of full 100% stamp duty waiver as the applicable government policy, and development of common infrastructure and shared facility centres originally envisaged for the park, the release added.
