Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge U.T. Khader on Saturday said the Congress cadres should immediately begin preparations for the upcoming local body elections.

The party should be ready to face the elections by strengthening the organisation at the grass-root levels, respective block and booth levels, he said. He was addressing party workers and leaders at the District Congress Committee general meeting here.

Mr. Khader said the frontline units, including the Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal and NSUI, should organise separate district-level conferences in the district and conduct their activities more effectively. He suggested that the party organisation in the district should be strengthened from the grass-roots level and work in an organised manner for the victory of the Congress in all 8 constituencies in the district in the 2028 Assembly elections.

The Minister said care should be taken not to leave out the names of eligible voters in the final list of voters for any reason. This should be checked at the booth level. He promised to visit the District Congress Bhavan twice a month to be in constant touch with the workers, receive the complaints and suggestions of workers and respond to their problems.

District Congress president Padmaraj R. Poojary, who chaired the meeting, said necessary preparations will be made to face the upcoming elections effectively by further strengthening the party organisation.
