Parvatipuram-Manyam district superintendent of Police K.V. Madhav Reddy on Tuesday (February 3, 2026) said the Department would initiate stern action on the persons who participate in rallies, protests and other activities by violating Section 30 of the Police Act-1861. He said that the rule was imposed against the backdrop of agitations and protests which led to violence at other places in the State.
Speaking to The Hindu in Parvatipuram, he said the Department will not allow hate speeches, usage of unparliamentary language in public meetings and spreading of false information through social media and platforms.
“Many people provoke their opponents due to political rivalry and other reasons. The incidents and happenings may be used as an opportunity to create unrest in this district. In this background, we imposed Section-30 in the district. We requested leaders of all political parties to abide by rules and regulations to protect law and order in the district,” said Mr. Madhav Reddy.
He has also urged common people not to take part in rallies and protests since they would be in trouble with the possible filing of cases against them. He held a review meeting with the senior police officials of Parvatipuram, Kurupam, Gummalakshmipuram, Palakonda and other places to know the law and order situation in their respective places.
Against the backdrop of attacks and counter attacks among the leaders of Telugu Desam Party and YSRCP in Guntur and other districts made the Department to be cautious about the law and order in the district.
