Stop attacks on BRS workers or face retaliation: KTR to Congress

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, on Sunday, consoled the bereaved family of Uppala Mallaiah, who was killed in an alleged attack by Congress activists recently, at Lingampally village of Nuthankal mandal in Suryapet district, and announced ₹5 lakh ex gratia to the family and a government job to his kin in future.

Accompanied by former minister and Suryapet MLA G. Jagadish Reddy, MLC M.C. Koti Reddy, former MLAs G. Kishore Kumar, B. Bhikshamaiah and B. Mallaiah Yadav, and former MP B. Lingaiah Yadav, he handed over ₹5 lakh as immediate financial assistance to the family and assured them of all support from the party.

Speaking later, he sought to know if the Congress had truly delivered “wonders” in the last two years. If the Congress had fulfilled all the 420 promises made by it, people themselves would have celebrated the government, he said, and alleged that the fear of failures had pushed Congress leaders towards attacks and intimidation.

Mr. Rama Rao stated that BRS had ruled the State for 10 years but had never resorted to such violent politics. He cautioned that if attacks on BRS workers continue, the party would be forced to respond. Telangana, he said, never had a culture of political violence and such a practice must stop.

Despite Congress intimidation and attacks, the BRS workers stood bravely fighting and winning nearly 50% of Sarpanch and ward member seats in the Gram Panchayat elections, he said.
