Large number of students and NSS volunteers took part in the “Walkathon for Bharath” programme held in Mangaluru on Saturday, August 8. The programme was organised jointly by Disha Bharath, Canara College and Mangalore University’s NSS unit.
Over 700 students and NSS volunteers took part in the walkathon that started from Canara College in Kodialbail. The participants walked past PVS Circle to reach the T.V. Raman Pai auditorium where a function was held. The participants walked the distance by holding a long National Flag.

Addressing the participants, actor and film director Swaraj Shetty stressed on the need for countrymen to live in harmony with different communities. While lauding the organisations involved in cleaning activities as part of Swachh Bharath campaign, Mr. Shetty said it was important for citizens to ensure that the surroundings around us is not polluted.
Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishat Dakshina Kannada District Secretary Latesh Bakrabail also spoke.
