‘Suicide bid survivor’ wins sarpanch election

A BRS functionary, who allegedly attempted suicide in September this year after recording a selfie video alleging harassment by some local Congress leaders, emerged winner as sarpanch in the gram panchayat elections in Khammam district.

The BRS-backed candidate B. Ravi of Suddavagu Thanda in Thirumalayapalem mandal emerged victorious, defeating his nearest opponent by a margin of 134 votes in the second phase of gram panchayat elections, the results of which were declared on Sunday night.

According to BRS sources, the ‘suicide bid survivor’ succeeded in his electoral debut with a positive outlook and self-confidence.
