The government launched the Tamil Nadu Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme on Monday to encourage domestic consumers to install rooftop solar plants. Energy Resources Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar launched the scheme in Chennai.
Mr. Nirmal Kumar said that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had announced a special additional subsidy for roof top solar plants in the Assembly and had allocated ₹50 crore for this purpose in the current financial year.
Consumers who have applied from August 5 would be eligible to receive the combined Central and State government subsidy of ₹35,000 for 1 kilo watt (kW), ₹70,000 for 2kW, and ₹1,00,000 for 3 kW, he added.
The Minister said the subsidy scheme has set a target to achieve the installation of roof top solar plants in one lakh households by next March next year.
The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation limited (TNPDCL) launched a portal https://www.tnebltd.gov.in/usrp/ to apply and provide details of the scheme.
The website will provide all information regarding the residential rooftop solar scheme, including details on subsidies from both the Central and State government, guidelines for installation, application procedures, application status, a list of authorised solar vendors, and other relevant information.
