The Tambaram City Police on Monday held a meeting with representatives and security officials of major IT companies to strengthen coordination on employee safety, crime prevention and emergency response.
The meeting, led by Commissioner of Police Prem Anand Sinha, focused on women’s safety, cybercrime and digital fraud, night-shift transport, traffic safety, emergency preparedness and drug-abuse prevention.
Police officials stressed the need for safe pick-up and drop-off points, verified transport, adequate CCTV coverage and lighting, and prompt reporting of incidents. Measures to improve traffic management along IT corridors and create greater awareness of cyber fraud were also discussed.
The police briefed the companies on initiatives including Kaval Udhavi, Singappen Special Force and WhatsCop. Companies were asked to designate nodal officers and 24×7 emergency contacts, identify vulnerable locations, facilitate CCTV coordination and participate in awareness programmes and emergency drills.
Mr. Sinha said the meeting ended with a commitment to closer coordination among the police, IT companies, employees and transport operators to improve security along the IT corridors in Tambaram.
