Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) has launched the online collection of Employees’ Provident Facility (EPF) payments through its internet banking platform, with direct integration between EPFO portal and TMB’s internet banking application.
The launch event was presided over by Vincent Menachery Devassy, executive director, TMB. Kavitha N. George, additional Central PF Commissioner, Chennai, attended the event as chief guest.
At the event, Mr. Devassy said the launch of the online EPF payment facility by TMB was a milestone for the bank. The facility had been introduced with the aim of enhancing customer convenience through digital integration. While the bank already had online payment facilities for CBDT, GST and ICEGATE, the new addition of EPF payments further boosted the TMB’s digital offerings.
“The bank will actively popularise the facility among the customers and focus on increasing the number of EPF payments routed through TMB,” he added.
Leveraging the new facility, MSME units, retailers, wholesalers, big corporate customers who had employed more than 20 or more employees can remit EPF contributions, including monthly salary deductions of employees directly through TMB internet banking.
In her keynote address, Ms. George said the facility would be highly beneficial for the above-mentioned customers, who maintained accounts with TMB, but were making EPF payments through other banks.
She emphasised the need to create awareness of the digital facility among customers and to popularise EPF adoption among MSME customers, helping to enable more enterprises to remit EPF contributions for their employees through TMB’s internet banking.
