Tamizh Desiya Periyakkam members stage demo

The Tamizh Desiya Periyakkam on Tuesday urged the Election Commission to immediately stop the Special Intensive Revision exercise and not to provide Electoral Photo Identity cards to people of other States in Tamil Nadu. 

The party held a demonstration, led by Periyakkam’s executive committee member N. Vaigarai, at Railway Junction in support of its demands.

The demonstrators also urged the Election Commission not to remove Tamils from the electoral roll.

They urged the State government not to provide ration and Aadhaar cards to people from other States and introduce the system of issuing Inner Line Permit for those from other States as was the case in Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. 

They also wanted the State government to enact a law to ensure jobs in Tamil Nadu for the Tamils.
