A 13-year-old girl left home along with her nine-year-old brother after being reprimanded by their parents, but was traced and reunited with her family on February 3.
The incident was reported in Bengaluru from Ashwathnagar under HAL police station limits.
According to the police, the siblings left their house after being reprimanded by their parents for not attending tuition classes.
Using their Aadhaar cards, the girl boarded government buses and availed free travel under the Shakti scheme. She got a ticket for herself but managed to take her younger brother along without a ticket. The children travelled as far as Bhadravati in Shivamogga district.
When the children did not return home, the worried parents launched a search and later lodged a missing complaint at HAL police station. Acting swiftly, the police alerted stations across Karnataka and also circulated information through social media platforms.

The children were later spotted in Bhadravati where people recognised them based on messages circulated on social media and informed the police. Based on this information, HAL police coordinated with the local police station and brought the children safely back to Bengaluru.
The girl and her younger brother were later reunited with their parents after counselling.
