Thatipudi water will be provided to Bheemunipatnam limits: MLA

Bheemunipatnam will get additional drinking water from the Thatapudi reservoir as part of the government’s efforts to address the water shortages said Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Sunday. He also announced that bulk water connections would be provided to apartment complexes that pay the prescribed charges.

Addressing the media in Bheemunipatnam, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said he had raised the drinking water crisis in Visakhapatnam with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his visit for the distribution of house site pattas on September 19. The Chief Minister had assured that a permanent plan would be formulated to address the city’s drinking water requirements, he said.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the government was spending ₹1,845 crore to strengthen the city’s water supply infrastructure. Priority was being given to securing additional water sources and improving the distribution network.

The MLA said that apartment complexes could avail bulk water connections by paying the prescribed fee. Water tankers were being deployed to supply drinking water to slum areas and distant localities where the regular supply was inadequate.
