The Molakalmur Police have arrested a thief who used to siphon off money from bank customers after diverting their attention. The police have recovered ₹4 lakh in cash from the accused.
According to a release issued by Chitradurga Police, the 19-year-old accused has been identified as N. Surya alias Ganesh of Bhadravati Town.
After cases of money being stolen from people while returning from banks were reported, Superintendent of Police Ranjitkumar Bandaru constituted a team led by Molakalmur Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Laxman Hospet, under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Shivakumar R., Deputy Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Rao and Circle Inspector of Police Nagaraj.
The team has succeeded in arrested the accused. It has now launched a manhunt for the accomplices of the accused.
