The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized 240 grams of MDMA worth ₹24 lakh.
The police gave the names of the accused as Nawaz, 35, Mohammed Arif N., 36, and Loyd D’Souza, all residents of Kairangala in Ullal taluk of Dakshina Kannada.
In a press note, the police said the CCB, acting on a tip-off about the sale of drugs brought from Bengaluru to students and others, arrested the three near Coirgoli Cross in Mudipu on Saturday. Apart from MDMA worth ₹24 lakh, the CCB seized four mobile phones and a tempo used by the accused.
The police said Nawaz was an accused in 16 criminal cases, including those of assault, threat, attempt to murder, harassment, kidnapping, cheating, cattle theft and sale of narcotic drugs, registered in Konaje, Ullal, Mulki and Surathkal police stations. The CCB police were on the lookout for other persons allegedly associated with the accused, the police added.
