Watrap police have seized 18 country-made bombs and arrested three persons, including a boy, from Watrap on Wednesday night.
A police team, led by Watrap Sub-Inspector of Police Prakash, were conducting a vehicle check on Maharajapuram-Watrap Road.
At around 5.30 p.m., three persons, who were riding a motorbike, suddenly stopped the vehicle upon seeing the police party and tried to make a quick U-turn.
However, the police party managed to intercept them. The police identified the persons as P. Manikandan (18) and S. Kavirajan (19) of Watrap.
While searching the pouch in the bike, the police found 18 country-made bombs. The three persons claimed they were carrying the bombs for hunting wild animals along Western Ghats.
The police have booked all the three accused under the provisions of Explosives Act and Explosive Substances Act.
