Tie up with IITs, IIMs to train Andhra government employees: Chandrababu Naidu to officials

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) directed officials to work with the IITs and IIMs to provide specialised training for government employees and to make capacity building and skill development a continuous process.

At a review of the services delivered by various departments at his camp office, Mr. Naidu discussed skill development for government employees, Anna Canteens, drinking water supply in urban areas and facilities in welfare hostels. Andhra Pradesh was ahead of other southern States in the capacity building and skill development of government employees, he said. Employees had been trained in various courses through iGOT Karmayogi and were being equipped to work in real time.

The Chief Minister urged employees to improve their skills through online courses. Just as IAS officers periodically undergo orientation programmes and upgrade their skills, government employees should also receive regular skill development training, he said.

No water shortages, rains or not

Mr. Naidu reviewed the drinking water situation in the municipalities and was told that the problem had eased considerably after the recent rains. Officials said there were minor drinking water issues in two municipalities in Rayalaseema, and measures were being taken to address them.

In Visakhapatnam, groundwater levels had improved after the rains and the drinking water situation was also improving, officials said.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that drinking water problems did not arise in urban or rural areas, and cautioned them against complacency merely because of the recent rains.

He also called for greater public participation in government programmes.

Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and other officials attended the review meeting.
