A total of 70 areas in Tiruchi have been converted from garbage dumps into ‘selfie spots’ through the sustained beautification efforts of the Corporation.

Corporation Commissioner N. Ponmani, in a statement, said that approximately 450 tonnes of waste is being collected from the 65 wards in Tiruchi on a daily basis. A survey found that 124 spots in the city, including TVS Tollgate, Venice Street, and Melapudur were regularly getting littered by the public.

A total of 70 of these areas have been cleaned up by the Corporation and refurbished as ‘selfie-spots’. Besides this, inspirational and public service messages have been painted on the walls and to encourage community engagement, said the announcement.
