Tirunelveli Corporation official dies in office

S. Balasundaram, 52, Assistant Commissioner of Accounts, Tirunelveli Corporation, died on Wednesday following a massive cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Balasundaram collapsed in the Corporation’s administrative office around 11.30 a.m., and his colleagues immediately rushed him to a multi-speciality hospital on North Bypass Road. However, the doctors there declared him ‘brought dead’.

Condoling the untimely demise of her colleague, Corporation Commissioner Monika Rana said Balasundram had joined Tirunelveli Corporation only in March after being transferred from Avadi Corporation.

Balasundaram accompanied Mayor G. Ramakrishnan when he received petitions from the public during the weekly grievance redress meeting held at the Corporation on Tuesday.
