Neglected premises
On Gandhi Jayanti, members of Lions Club garlanded the historic Mahatma Gandhi statue inside the Tirunelveli district collectorate. At the time, it was concerning to find the statue in an isolated location, neglected, surrounded by litter and dried-up and unattended plant saplings. In addition, the collectorate premises lack designated parking facilities for visitors and the uneven ground poses a safety hazard for senior citizens. Refreshment options are also limited to a single kiosk and bicycle vendor on working days.
For a city designated under the Smart City initiative, the Tirunelveli collectorate premises fall short of modern standards. Will the authorities look into addressing these infrastructure and cleanliness issues to make the campus more visitor friendly?

Healthcare upgrade
Eruvadi in Tirunelveli district is a special grade town panchayat. However, a single Primary Health Centre (PHC) caters to manage the healthcare needs of people. To meet the growing healthcare needs of the residents, the existing PHC should be upgraded to a government hospital to serve the neighbouring villages as well. A government vacant land is also available on the sixth street to be utilized for this purpose.

Planning concerns
The newly constructed bus stand in Thuckalay seems to have lost its old charm and appears to have less space than before. Apart from relocating the bus bays to the opposite site, there are no significant changes. At the old bus stand one can see several minibuses parked in line along the exit route of the bus stand. However, now no minibuses were found and it seems that space for that purpose has been reduced. At first glance, it appears that the bus stand has lost its spacious layout.

Stray dog menace
Several stray dogs are roaming on the main road from Kottaram Junction to Vadakkanpattu, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kottaram town panchayat. The dogs have been chasing pedestrians and motorists during nighttime , posing a risk for public safety. The concerned authorities are requested to take necessary action to control stray dog menace in the area.
