Traffic diversions in Coimbatore on September 18 for Vinayaka idol immersion

The Coimbatore City Police on Wednesday (September 16) announced traffic diversions to facilitate processions for the immersion of Vinayaka idols in Muthannankulam on Thadagam Road on Friday (September 18). Movement of heavy vehicles and trucks is prohibited within the city between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday.

Vehicles that normally ply from Ukkadam to Perur via Oppanakara Street, Vysial Street, Chetty Street, and Shivalaya junction should pass through Perur bypass, Ashok Nagar roundabout, Selvapuram Government Higher Secondary School junction and Shivalaya junction to proceed further.

Vehicles heading from Gandhipuram and Town Hall toward Vysial Street or Sullivan Street must turn right at Ukkadam police station roundabout and proceed on Perur bypass, Ashok Nagar roundabout, Selvapuram Government Higher Secondary School junction and continue via Shivalaya junction to proceed further.

All vehicles traveling through Ukkadam to Tiruchi Road should use Sungam bypass. Vehicles plying from Ukkadam to Mettupalayam Road and Thadagam Road must turn right from Oppanakara Street to reach Five Corner junction, Big Bazaar Street, Lanka Corner junction and railway station road to Gandhipuram to head further to their destinations.

Vehicles, including buses, coming into the city from Thadagam Road should turn left at GCT junction and pass via Bharathi Park Road to reach Mettupalayam Road. Vehicles entering the city from Mettupalayam must turn left at Sanganoor bridge junction and go via Kannappa Nagar police check post and Ganapathy to reach Gandhipuram. 

Vehicles coming into the city from Perur should travel through Shivalaya junction, Selvapuram Government Higher Secondary School junction, Ashok Nagar roundabout and Perur bypass to reach Ukkadam roundabout. Vehicles coming into the city from Marudhamalai should turn left at Lawley Road roundabout and use either Thadagam Road via GCT or Cowley Brown Road to reach Mettupalayam Road and proceed to their destinations. 

Vehicles from Avinashi Road Old Flyover toward Sukrawarpet and Gandhi Park must pass via N.H. Road, Five Corner junction and Town Hall to reach Ukkadam. Vehicles traveling from Gandhipuram toward Marudhamalai should go through Sivananda Colony, ARC junction, Alagesan Road junction, Alagesan Road, Thadagam Road, GCT and Lawley Road roundabout to proceed further. Parking of vehicles is prohibited on both sides of the procession routes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday.
