Training for ‘counting personnel’ held in Tirunelveli, Tenkasi

Training the personnel to be involved in the counting of votes polled in the five Assembly constituencies of the district was held here on Thursday with District Collector and District Election Officer R. Sukumar in chair.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Sukumar said the Electronic Voting Machines and the boxes containing the postal ballots had been kept in the strongrooms in the counting centre being guarded by armed Central Forces. Counting of postal ballots would be started at 8 a.m. on May 4 and the counting of votes polled in the EVMs would start 30 minutes later. Fourteen tables would be kept ready for counting of votes polled in the EVMs used in each Assembly segment and each table would be manned by a supervisor, an assistant and a micro observer.
