Rich tributes were paid to Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu on his death anniversary, in Kurnool and Nandyal on Monday (December 15, 2025).
Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath, District Collector Dr. A. Siri, Kurnool Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairperson Somiseetty Venkateswarlu and others paid floral tributes to the statue of Potti Sriramulu at Poola Bazar in Kurnool city. Mr. Bharath said that the sacrifice made by Potti Sriramulu for a separate State for Telugu people will be remembered forever.
Mr. Bharath said that the NDA government had been organising the birth and death anniversary celebrations of the freedom fighter as a State function, and had even allocated 6.8 acres of land for installing a statue of Potti Sriramulu at Amaravati. He said that the TGV Group will donate ₹1 crore for development works at the proposed statue in Amaravati and promised to develop the existing Potti Sriramulu statue in Kurnool city.
Mr. Bharath said that the youth should follow the ideologies of Potti Sriramulu and serve the State and country. “Potti Sriramulu sat on an indefinite fast on October 19, 1952 in Madras and breathed his last on December 15, 1952 for the sake of a separate linguistic State for Telugu people,” he said.
Dr. Siri said that Potti Sriramulu’s sacrifice will be remembered forever and his life should be a role model to others.
In Nandyal, Collector Rajakumari Ganiya paid tributes to Potti Sriramulu’s portrait in the district Collectorate.
