
Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan inaugurated a two-day job fair in Puducherry on Friday.

Around 150 companies are participating in a two-day skill development training programme-cum-job fair at the Women’s Engineering College in Lawspet.
The event, organised jointly by Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation Limited and Ma Foi Foundation, was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan in the presence of Home and Education Minister A. Namassivayam.
Mr. Kailashnathan, in his inaugural address, said the government has filled around 4,000 vacancies in the last five years. Administrative steps were being taken to fill 1,000 more vacancies in government departments, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Namassivayam said private companies from across the country were participating in the job fair. The government was considering providing offer letters to selected candidates during the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Puducherry on March 1.
