Two persons – Sabari, 32, and Nelson, 44, of Dharmapuri district, who were operating e-Seva centre in Dindigul, were arrested on Saturday. Police said that following complaints, the Dindigul Town South police registered a case.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the duo, who were familiar in online transactions, allegedly cheated gullible persons by showing fake transactions and used some collage apps in their hand phones. A senior officer, who was supervising the probe said that at least the duo may have cheated 50 people or even more and siphoned off around ₹20 lakh. Further investigation was on.
66 kg of ganja seized in Theni; two held

The Theni district police seized 66 kgs of ganja and arrested two persons in Devathanapatti police station limits on Saturday. Police said that following a specific intelligence, the accused from Karur and another co-accused were intercepted while transporting the contraband in a lorry. During the search, the police recovered 32 parcels of ganja weighing 66 kgs and seized the vehicle. A senior officer said that discreet probe showed that the contraband was meant for distribution in Theni and other neighbourhood.
