Two men die allegedly due to suffocation from chemical leak inside public toilet in Mumbai

Two men died after allegedly suffocating due to a suspected chemical leak inside a public toilet near Mrunaltai Gore Bridge in Goregaon East early on Sunday (September 27, 2026), according to preliminary information from civic authorities.

The deceased have been identified as Prabhakar Dhanivar, 24, and Bhavin Desai, 18. Both were taken to Trauma Care Hospital, where a doctor declared them ‘brought dead’ at 3:49 a.m., according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Local residents said the two men had suffocated after encountering a strong chemical smell inside the toilet. The exact nature and source of the suspected chemical leak are being investigated.
