The police had arrested two men – Sreeraj of Karthikappally, Alappuzha, and Jithu Martin of Thrikkakara, Ernakulam – on Monday in connection with the case. They have been remanded in judicial custody.

3 spas raided

Mr. Mahesh Kumar said the police had raided three spas run by Mr. Sreeraj as part of the probe. “Investigation will be launched into illegal spas in Kochi,” he said.

The alleged incident took place on October 2 at a lodge in the city. The woman was allegedly invited to the lodge after being informed that she had been selected for a manager’s job, then drugged and gang-raped.

Minister for Social Justice V. E. Abdul Gafoor on Tuesday assured all necessary government support to the survivor.

According to a statement issued by the Minister’s office, Mr. Gafoor spoke to the survivor’s partner over the phone and assured that all government assistance, including treatment and legal aid, would be provided to the survivor.
