The U.S. and Iran confirmed that the deal was signed to end the West Asia war.
U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a deal with Iran to end the war, a U.S. official told AFP on Wednesday (June 17, 2026) after Axios reported that the signing took place during a dinner with Franceâs President.
âCan confirm the signing,â the official said when asked about the report that Mr. Trump personally signed a copy during dinner with Macron at the Palace of Versailles following a G7 summit.
Iran on Thursday (June 18, 2026) confirmed it has signed a deal with Washington to end the West Asia war.
âThe text of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was finalised with the signatures of the Presidentsâ now it is time to test the implementation of the agreement,â Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said, quoted by the state news agency IRNA.
The memo had âbeen âsigned digitally on â Sunday (June 14, 2026) by Vice President âJ..D Vance and Iranâs chief negotiator Mohammad âBaqer Qalibaf and âwitnessed by Mr. Trump, â a U.S. official â said.
