Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant on Wednesday hit back at VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan for his recent comments that the sudden inclusion of DMDK in the erstwhile DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance before the Assembly elections were one of the reasons for its loss. Speaking after the district secretaries’ meeting in Chennai, Ms. Premallatha said, “I have a lot of respect for Thirumavalavan.
He is a straightforward person. But the truth is that he has changed his position, and since they have a Minister, they have joined the alliance. Why didn’t he support the government from outside like the Communists? Why couldn’t he say he did not want a Ministry? You wished for a Ministerial post and joined the alliance… why are you dragging in the DMDK unnecessarily?” She also said that the DMDK would support the DMK in the upcoming byelections.
