The 154th birth anniversary of Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu was observed at two separate events in the city on Sunday.
At the Collectorate, District Revenue Officer M. Visweswara Naidu paid floral tributes to a portrait of the freedom fighter, recalling his enduring contributions to the freedom movement and public life. Mr. Naidu said Prakasam Pantulu’s fearless role in the independence movement and commitment to public welfare remained an inspiration. He also recalled his tenure as the first Chief Minister of Andhra State, marked by distinguished public service.
Separately, the Gandhi Centre and Bala Vikas Foundation jointly organised a programme at the Gandhi Centre hall, Dr. L.B. College. Former Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Nageswara Rao, the chief guest, recalled Prakasam Pantulu’s uncompromising stand against the Simon Commission and his role as the first Chief Minister of Andhra State. He urged the youth to imbibe the leader’s ideals.
