Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru celebrated “Teachers’ and Engineers’ Day” at the Sri Sahukar Channaiah auditorium on the college campus. The programme was organised by Vidyavardhaka Sangha Mysuru to recognise and honour the contributions and achievements of faculty members.
The chief guest, Lingaraj Gandhi, former Vice-Chancellor, Bangalore City University, Bengaluru, addressed the gathering and highlighted the significant role of teachers and engineers in shaping society through education, innovation and professional excellence.
As part of the celebrations, several faculty members and staff were honoured for their academic and professional achievements. Fifteen faculty members who obtained PhD degrees were felicitated, recognising their contribution towards higher education and research. Four research supervisors were also honoured for their contribution to guiding and promoting research activities.
The institution also recognised 10 members who completed 25 years of service at VVCE. Four members who attained superannuation were felicitated in appreciation of their service and commitment to the institution, a press release from VVCE said.
The programme also featured awards for excellence in teaching and research. Three faculty members were conferred the Best Teacher awards, while three were recognised as best researchers, acknowledging their contributions to academic excellence, innovation and research, the release added.
B. Sadashive Gowda, Principal, VVCE, Mysuru welcomed. P. Vishwanath, Secretary, VVS, Mysuru, addressed the gathering, followed by the presidential address by Gundappa Gowda, president, VVS, Mysuru. Shobha Shankar, Vice Principal and Dean Academic Affairs, VVCE was also present.
